drunk driving..?

I believe that people should not drink and drive… jus recently a student from my school died in a drunk driving accident. A few years ago i thought that i couldn’t do anything.. that kids had no control over something like this, an that we could do nuttin to prevent it. However, i decided that enough is enough. We teens can do something about this an i want to. However i can’t seem to find a program about drunk driver for me to join in West Warwick, RI. I am sixteen by the wayy. An i know this may sound crazy but i am DEATHLY afraid of Car Accidents.. The site of a recked up car makes me sick, an i hav nitemares.. but i am willing to deal with those symptoms if i can do anything to help decrease the death rate in drunk driving. So if anybody knows any programs for sixteen year olds in west warwick, RI i would appreciate it.

try S.A.D.D (Students Against Drunk Driving) s.a.d.d.org

alcoholism and drunk driving accidents?

I am doing a research paper and I really need to find a statistic that states about how many alcohol related accidents are actually tied to alcoholics..not just average drivers..even if someone could tell me a stat on the amount of alcoholics in the US it would be helpful.. thanx!

In 2006, an estimated 17,602 people died in alcohol-related traffic crashes—an average of one every 30 minutes. These deaths constitute 41 percent of the 42,642 total traffic fatalities. Of these, an estimated 13,470 involved a driver with an illegal BAC (.08 or greater).

Approximately 1.4 million drivers were arrested in 2004 for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. This is an arrest rate of 1 for every 139 licensed drivers in the United States (2005 data not yet available).

About three in every ten Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash at some time in their lives.

How many drunk driving accidents happens a year?

"First, let us acquaint ourselves with some alarming statistics: 250,000 people have died in alcohol-related accidents in the past 10 years; 25,000 people die each year in alcohol related accidents; 500 people are killed weekly and 71 people daily in alcohol-related accidents; one American life is lost every 20 minutes in an alcohol-related car crash; and one out of every two Americans is likely to be involved in an alcohol-related accident in his lifetime. Every year, 708,000 persons are injured, 74,000 of them seriously, in alcohol-related crashes. About 2,000 people receive injuries each day in alcohol-related accidents." Pretty crazy, huh?

There’s more info on it below.

Jacqueline Saburido

Short movie I dedicated to the story of Jacqueline Saburido, a drunk driving accident survivor who has publicized her own disfigurement to show the potential consequences of drunk driving.
A powerful story.

Car makers are responsible for all drunk driving accidents?

GPS system in the car Air bags!! How about a system to prevent stupid people from driving drunk?
2009 technology C- On!!!

It’s called "lower the drinking age."

Kids drink because it’s cool. It’s cool because it’s taboo. Take away the taboo, take away the cool, take away underage drinking. Other countries have already proven this works.

Fun fact: replace a few words in the paragraph above and it can be used as a bulletproof argument for almost anything that’s illegal for stupid reasons. Examples: piracy, cannabis, loitering, skateboarding laws, etc.

Where can I find articles from ten years ago in florida paper for drunk driving accidents?

Avery dear friend of mine was killed in january of 1998 by a drunk driver. My friends name was Christopher Allen Whisenet, the accident occurred in Orlando Fl on Jan 29, 1998. He died jan 31, 1998. I am looking for old articles on the accident. I have moved and can’t locate any of my old articles. thank you

There are two things you can do:

1) www.orlandosentinel.com, the Orlando, FL newspaper where you can search the archives. It does require payment to see the full article, but you can preview the headline first.

2) Contact your local county library. They should have an online database of newspapers from around the world (my library uses NewsBank). I actually got a free e-card from my library where I can access most of their databases from home.

Good luck!
